Description

The Drakensberg Boys' Choir is representative of the multi-faceted cultures that make up South Africa. They have created a new trend in the international choral scene that transcends the conventional. A unique style of diversity - Bach, Beethoven, Freddy Mercury, African sounds, Jazz, Folk, etc. - whatever the style, they perform it with excellence and aplomb.

The Mission of the Drakensberg Boys' Choir School is to prepare boys for life and leadership through excellence in music, academics, sport and social enrichment in a Christian environment.

Yes indeed, the Boys' of the Drakensberg Boys' Choir are the "The Singing Ambassadors of South Africa".

There are concerts most Wednesdays at 15h00 in the Auditorium at the School.

From Durban: A) Along the N3, pass Shell Ultra City and take the Exit 194, Winterton/Bergville/Colenso (R74) glide off. Turn left and proceed for 20km to Winterton. Opposite the Engen garage, turn left onto the R600 CENTRAL BERG road. Proceed for ±13km to the crossroad junction. B) Alternative to A) above, Short Cut Route: (Use during daylight hours only) (Or as a short cut, But Not To Be Used At Night, as it passes through a rural area). Take EXIT 179 at Estcourt North/ Giants Castle/Loskop/ Central Drakensberg. Travel for approximately 20 minutes, until the crossroads. Turn left onto the R600. Thokosiza is on your left hand side. ******** Continue along the R600 for ±15 km (you will pass The Nest Hotel and Champagne Sports Resort. Look out for the green wall and signs to the "Dragon Peaks / Drakensberg Boys Choir School" entrance on your right. From Johannesburg: A) Scenic Route: CAUTION: Do not follow this route in wet or freezing conditions Johannesburg to Harrismith on N3. At Harrismith turn right onto N5 towards BETHLEHEM/BLOEMFONTEIN. Proceed for ± 5km; turn left onto the R712 QWA-QWA/BERGVILLE road. Proceed for ± 10km. Turn left again on the BERGVILLE/OLIVIERSHOEK PASS road. Continue past Sterkfontein dam, down Oliviershoek Pass, straight through Bergville and onto Winterton. Opposite the Engen garage, turn right onto the R600 CENTRAL BERG road, proceed for ± 13km to the crossroad junction. ******* See above B) Freeway Route: Johannesburg to Van Reenen's Pass on the N3. Take the first glide off after the Tugela Toll Plaza, which is at the bottom of Van Reenen's Pass. Turn left for ± 4 kms on the N11 and then turn right towards WINTERTON onto the R600. You will cross over the N3 concrete highway. At the T-junction (R74), turn left towards Winterton. In Winterton, opposite the Engen garage, turn right onto the R600 CENTRAL BERG road. Proceed for ± 13km to the crossroad junction. ******* See above Alternatively: you may continue on the N3 from the tollgate towards Estcourt (for about 38km), until you reach EXIT 194, the R74/BERGVILLE/COLENSO/GREYTOWN glide off. Turn right over the bridge and proceed for ± 20 kms to Winterton. Opposite the Engen garage, turn left onto the R600 CENTRAL BERG road. Proceed for ± 13km to the crossroad junction. ******* See above
